The 1st graders at Village school have been busy working in their sketchbooks and creating their first artworks of the year! I am already so impressed by what these students have been planning, designing, and creating. We spent our third classes of the year discussing the steps we will take to making our pictures in art. On week 5 I introduced students to watercolor and crayon resist--they have already made some beautiful paintings. Many students have chosen to work with fall as their inspiration, while others are inspired by home, the great outdoors, or another personal interest.
During our 6th classes of the year we have been talking about the element of art, line, and how we can use line to make interesting pictures. During our 7th classes 1st graders can expect to begin learning about framing and titling their artwork so that it is ready for display in the school!
